We are delighted to invite a fully qualified Consultant Breast Radiographer in to our forward thinking Breast Care Centre.

This is a substantive post covering both the screening and symptomatic pathways. The service strives to provide the highest standards of healthcare for our patients from our purpose-built Breast Care Centre at Glenfield Hospital. As part of an established multi-disciplinary team 950 cancers were diagnosed in 2017.

Our breast screening programme invites over 160,000 and in addition to the screening activity our symptomatic and surveillance demand is approximately 17,000 per year. We are a centre that is actively involved in clinical trials and have successfully secured Tomosynthesis and Contrast Enhanced Mammography equipment. There is also the opportunity to practice a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures including breast MRI (screening and symptomatic) and increasing use of vacuum assisted biopsy.

As a qualified consultant radiographer you will be expert in all areas of breast imaging, including clinical examination, ultrasound, biopsy and image interpretation. You will also provide support and training for the advanced practitioners. You will independently manage a clinical workload working independently alongside a team of nine consultant radiologists providing a complete diagnostic service.

The department has an experienced team of advanced practitioners carrying out breast biopsy and film reading, the successful candidate will take a lead role within this team and work to expand the current roles.
