Proudly Providing Children’s Heart Services

Band 5 Opportunities – Children’s Hospital – University of Leicester NHS Trust

We have a range of Band 5 positions across our expanding and reconfiguring Children’s Hospital at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Glenfield Hospital in Leicester.

In September 2019 we received the exciting news that we had funding agreed to create a standalone Children’s Hospital at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The first phase of our reconfiguration will see our Paediatric Congenital Cardiac Centre and ECMO service at Glenfield Hospital re-locate to new facilities at the Leicester Royal Infirmary in December 2020. We will then progress with creating a new age appropriate environment for all bringing together all acute paediatric services into one defined area of the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) to create a fully integrated Children’s Hospital to serve the population of Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland, the East Midlands and beyond.

The children we care for are at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that delivering high quality care requires a culture of lifelong learning and development. With this in mind we have developed an extensive and exciting band five career pathway offering a number of exciting options to develop your Nursing career. We are totally committed to helping you realise your potential.

We have positions in our Children’s Cardiac Ward, Intensive Care Units, High Dependency Unit, Out-Patients, Surgical Day Care, General Medical and Surgical and Oncology Wards. By joining our team now, you will have the opportunity to be part of shaping children’s services in the future.

Applicants can be experienced or newly qualified Children’s Nurses. We are also able to accommodate Registered Adult Nurses and Registered Learning Disability Nurses in some of our areas.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

If this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) .

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

We welcome applications from individuals who require Tier 2 sponsorship. NON-EEA candidates may not be appointed, if a suitable EU/EEA candidate is successful. This is due to the fact that it is unlikely the Trust would be able to satisfy the Home Office Visa requirements.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
