We are seeking an enthusiastic post-doctoral Bioinformatian to fill a full-time, fixed term post with a duration of 30 months, with a possibility of further funding.

The successful candidate will provide Bioinformatics support to two research projects the in department, one focusing on antimicrobial resistance and the other on metagenomic sequencing for diagnosing sepsis and meningtitis. They will lead the sequence data analysis work within these research studies and support the translation of pipelines into the clinical service. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience using a wide range of Bioinformtics tools and programming languages, including R. They should have an excellent understanding of molecular microbiology techniques, in particular Next Generation Sequencing. Previous experience of performing these laboratory techniques would be an advantage, but not essential

This vibrant, progressive, well equipped and UKAS accredited laboratory provides an extensive range of molecular investigations, including Next Generation Sequencing, to support the specialist patient population at GOSH. The post holder will contribute to the development of the diagnostic service, and there is an opportunity to persue a career within healthcare science in the NHS.
