Make a difference with us

If you are looking for somewhere you can make a real difference and are passionate about keeping people safe, well and out of hospital, a career with us may be just what you’re looking for. At Solent NHS Trust, we strive to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of our communities.

We are proud to be an organisation which is focused on our people and we welcome people who share our values to come and work with us.

  • To be a caring, flexible and supportive place to work
  • To deliver the best value for money

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist who can specialise in the assessment and treatment of people with acute mental health problems.

The post involves leading the psychological therapy provision and support, training and consultation to colleagues within acute care (the crisis and home treatment teams and two acute wards). There are also two band 7 psychological therapists in the acute service whom you will manage. This is an exciting role for the successful candidate to join our service during a period of service development developing the model, competencies and provision of home treatment.

You will also contribute one day per week to the broader adult therapy service for patients with severe or complex mental health problems, joining a team of experienced therapists who provide CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT and CAT. You will receive therapy-specific supervision for the therapies you practise with the wider therapy team.

Solent NHS Trust is very committed to CPD to support the delivery of evidence-based therapies and we will arrange training for you in DBT and other therapies as required by the service. You will be joining a supportive organisation where psychologists and psychological therapists work closely with other professionals and multi-disciplinary teams to offer high-quality care across Portsmouth.

We can be flexible about hours worked though you will be asked to participate in team meetings at certain times in the week.

Please take the time to read the accompanying Job Description and Person Specification.

The trust is situated in the vibrant maritime city of Portsmouth with a long naval history and excellent shopping facilities. With the New Forest and South Downs nearby, the area provides the opportunity for a wide range of outdoor leisure activities. We are not far from London by road and rail, with easy access to the continent by air and ferry.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
