The UHL Bowel Cancer Screening Centre began in February 2014, covering a population of almost 1 million people. As part of the national programme all men & women aged 60-75 are offered to take part in 2 yearly screening. We are also fully rolled out with bowel scope which offers screening to those aged 55 so we need a dedicated administration team to deliver the service.

The post is based at Glenfield Hospital and shifts patterns are predominately Monday to Friday office hours , with 1 or 2 evenings per week and some weekend work.

We are looking for a motivated, experienced and flexible team player to join the admin team. The role is varied and involves patient contact, both face to face and on the telephone; preparing notes for clinics and procedure lists; booking of clinic and inpatient appointments; sitting reception for Bowel Screening clinics and Bowel Scope lists; and liaising with Specialist Nurses, Consultants & Nurse Endoscopists.

This role in particular involves the co-ordination of the bowel scope lists as well as running accreditation days, undertaking audits and supporting the rest of the admin team.

You will need to be a good communicator, able to prioritise and manage your own workload, able to supervise and motivate others and work as a team to ensure the smooth running of the service. Training will be provided for use of the Bowel Cancer Screening IT system; however previous NHS admin experience is essential as well as at least 9 months previous experience in a screening service.

There is the opportunity for the successful applicant to be taken on as a band 4 if they meet the full criteria for the post, otherwise the post may be offered as a development post at band 3, with the post holder progressing to band 4 after successful completion of competencies
