Are you passionate about wanting to develop a dietetic career as a paediatric Dietitian? This post provides a perfect opportunity to develop a career in paediatric dietetics. You may be about to Graduate or an existing Dietitian wanting to specialise in Paediatric Dietetics. An opportunity has arisen in our well established Leicestershire paediatric, neonatal and women’s nutrition and dietetic team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, active team player with good communication skills, who enjoys working with children, to join our dedicated team. The post holder will deliver a first class dietetic service to the Children’s & Women’s Clinical Management Group, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, one of the largest teaching Trusts in the country based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary site, with some services delivered at the Leicester General Hospital. The successful applicant will be working with an outpatient and inpatient caseload alongside experienced paediatric Dietitians. As well as a general paediatric dietetic caseload there will be an opportunity to experience with training and support a range of specialist areas for example : oncology, neurology, respiratory, surgery, orthopaedics, dermatology, diabetes, neonatology and maternal medicine. The Service to Neonatology covers the Trust’s two Neonatal Units at levels 3 and 2 with related outpatients e.g. chronic lung. Transport links on the three acute sites are well supported by a bus hopper system.

 

You will be provided with training and education and supported by experienced and expert paediatric Dietitians. You will have clinical supervision with a dedicated clinical caseload supervisor as well as a line manager. You will have a great opportunity to develop broad experience in all aspects of paediatric, neonatal and women’s dietetics in an acute setting as part of a high profile and valued team of fourteen other Paediatric Dietitians with a dedicated Paediatric Dietetic Assistant working as core members of multi-professional teams.

 

We are looking for a registered Band 5 Dietitian who is keen to develop their skills in paediatrics.

We have established a CPD knowledge, skills and competency based programme in paediatrics, neonatology and maternal medicine. Further experience as part of your career development will also be available after training to be able to provide second on cover for our Senior Dietetic team.

 

Further responsibilities will include involvement in the pre-registration training of dietitians as we provide A, B, C clinical placements and you will play an active part in this. We also have a training commitment to other healthcare professional’s e.g. medical and nursing students, carers and patient groups which will provide the opportunity to develop excellent teaching and presentation skills.

We are a progressive service which actively contributes to Trusts and the national clinical governance agenda and has established clinical audit, R & D and policy/strategy programmes.

The service is committed to CPD and personal development and has well defined clinical supervision systems in place.
