Full Time or Part Time (Days and Nights)

A number of opportunities have arisen for Registered Nurses to join our team at Glenfield Hospital working as a Staff Nurse in the Cardiology Speciality working on Ward 33a or Ward 27.

An interest in the speciality is essential, however all training including a full induction will be provided therefore prior experience is desirable but not essential


A comprehensive induction package is offered by the ward staff supported by the education and practice development team based at the UHL academy on site, this includes experiences of Angiocatheter Suite, Adult intensive care, Cardio - Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Cardiac / Respiratory Specialist Nurses.

Ward 33a is a 20 bedded Cardio Respiratory ward, the ward works closely with our Clinical Decisions Unit, Coronary Care Unit and Angiocatheter Suite, this ward was recently awarded the highest standard (Green) in our UHL ward assessment and accreditation ratings.

Ward 27 cares for Cardiology patients and has links with Clinical Decisions Unit and Coronary Care unit and also strong links with the Heart Failure service, patients have a defined pathway and there is a strong focus on Heart Failure support and re - ablement and a very caring ethos.

Cardiology is part of the wider Renal, Respiratory, Cardiac and Vascular management group (RRCV). Glenfield Hospital (GH), is RRCV’s main administrative site and is located approximately three miles from Leicester City Centre on a spacious campus. This site will eventually be the hub of all speciality acute services in Leicester.

The campus has its own emergency ambulance bay and helipad, modern speciality theatres and intensive care units are also based on this site. GH campus is a regional centre for clinical research with both Respiratory and Cardiac Biomedical research units based here and has close links with both the University of Leicester and DeMontfort University.
