Applications are invited for a Health Care Scientist in Immunology to join our committed and enthusiastic, forward-thinking team. The Immunology Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary offers an integrated clinical and laboratory Immunology service, providing a comprehensive range of routine and specialist immunology assays for the diagnosis and management of autoimmunity, allergy, immunodeficiency and Haematological malignancy.

We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Health Care Scientist with experience of flow cytometry from either an Immunology, Haematology or related relevant discipline to join our dynamic department, composed of 2 Medical Consultants, 2 Clinical Scientists, 2 Specialist Registrars, 1 STP, 3 Band 7 managerial staff (including this post), and a large body of scientific and support staff.

Our friendly and enthusiastic team works closely together to provide an efficient, high quality laboratory and clinical diagnostic service. We are seeking a motivated and effective member of the team who also has the capability to act independently for the provision, management and continuing development of the Flow cytometry section of the Immunology Laboratory service. The Immunology Laboratory provides a Regional flow cytometry testing Service for primary and secondary Immunodeficiencies, diagnosis and monitoring of Haematological malignancies monitoring of biological therapies, stem cell analysis, functional tests of immune function including flow cytometric and cellular tests (eg Tspot), complement function and functional antibodies and is participating in MRD clinical trials.

 

The laboratory has recently undergone procurement for new equipment including 2 Beckman Coulter Aquios flow cytometers and 2 BD Lyric flow cytometers. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to contribute and shape the development of the service.
