Senior Radiographer

We have a vacancy for an ambitious enthusiastic Band 6 Diagnostic Radiographer based at the Glenfield Hospital, who shares our vision for high class patient care. Come and join our forward thinking friendly team in the University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL), which is one of the largest Hospital Trusts in the country and treated over a million patients last year.

UHL spans three hospital sites, employs around 14500 staff and fully embraces role extension. Imaging has regularly supported career progression in Radiographic Reporting/Advanced Practice and the other roles such as Hysterosalpinography, Vascular Access and Ultrasonography.

The Glenfield Hospital is a busy expanding site with a planned increase in service provision and currently has approximately 415 beds, provides a range of services for patients, including nationally recognised medical care for heart disease, lung cancer and breast care. Building work is commencing in 2019 to further include hepatobiliary and renal transplant cases.

The well-equipped Radiology Department is due to expand and the “plain film” aspect currently comprises of 3 twin plate wireless general DR rooms, 2 dedicated DR chest rooms, 1 fluoroscopy unit, 3 DR mobiles, 2 mobile C-arms and 2 CR/DR dental x-ray rooms. The workload includes direct GP walk-in access for MSK and chest examinations; a variety of out-patient & in-patient referrals, dental radiography and fluoroscopy procedures.

The post-holder will have excellent clinical skills and often be asked to coordinate & supervise day to day clinical work, delivering a high quality, effective and efficient radiographic service to the highest professional standards. You will work alongside the existing radiographic team and assist in the efficient rostering of all staff for that day.

It is essential that you are a good communicator and team player; enthusiastic and driven.

As a successful applicant, you will be required to participate in the 24/7 out-of-hours roster which includes night duties, weekends and public holiday shifts and you may be expected to work across site.

You will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and will have an increased influence on the day to day running of the department and deputise for your Superintendent Radiographer, when required.

You will be adaptable to change, have excellent communication and organisational skills. Commitment to high quality patient care is essential.
