The East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre (EMCHC) is entering an exciting period in its history and this new consultant post will play a crucial part in its future plans. Following the fantastic news that EMCHC will continue to provide Level 1 surgical and interventional services we can now look forward to the growth and development necessary to achieve full commissioning standards for adult congenital heart disease.

EMCHC provides specialist inpatient and outpatient congenital heart disease services to a catchment population of over 5 million people. It is a truly regional service with network clinics in six partnering hospitals. ACHD inpatient care is based at Glenfield Hospital with obstetric cardiology services at Leicester Royal Infirmary. EMCHC has a tertiary pulmonary hypertension service that is run in partnership with the National Pulmonary Hypertension Service at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

 This is a new post and will help support the current substantive team of NHS and academic staff of EMCHC. The post holder will join two Adult congenital heart disease consultants and eight paediatric cardiologists and world renowned ECMO service to contribute to the life-time care model for congenital heart disease patients that EMCHC prides itself on

The service also has strong links with academic cardiology and is co-located with a national Biomedical Research Centre. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical governance/audit activities.
