Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) recruitment open day for band 5 Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) and Nurses.

Come and visit the Leicester Royal Infirmarys Operating Theatres; where we will be giving you an inside look at how it feels to be part of our team.

Our hospitals are home to 46 operating theatres; which carry out around 54000 operations each year. The theatres cover a variety of specialities including; trauma, emergency, max fax, ENT, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, cardiac, vascular, and general surgery; paediatrics and Congenital heart surgeries. We are sure we have something to suit everyone’s preference.

We are looking for qualified, experienced and enthusiastic ODPs and nurses who can help Leicester hospitals to become the best at providing essential health care and health promotion to our diverse community. Newly qualified nurses and ODPs and those soon to qualify also welcomed as full training and support will be provided. You will need to have the skills and abilities to deliver high standards of care and have the resilience to meet the challenges of our busy and stimulating work environments. You should be self-motivated, an excellent communicator and have proven organisational and clinical skills.

Your training and development is important to us; and Leicester University Hospitals of Leicester are keen to invest in your future. As a new employee to our theatres we ensure you have a supernumerary period of at least 4 weeks; where you will be supported by your mentor. We also have a dedicated theatre practice development nurse to ensure that your knowledge is kept updated; as well as clinical skills nurses that will support you in clinical practice. The trust has also developed training packages aimed at helping you to obtain the skills needed to progress to band 6 and 7 within our hospital theatres and ITAPS.

You will be able to undertake interviews at the open day and we will provide a conditional job offer before you leave to a theatre area of your choice. You will also have the opportunity to discuss the role of the theatre practitioner and development opportunities within UHLs theatres with our experienced staff; as well as being provided with a tour of theatre and simulation experiences.
