We have an exciting opportunity in our Psychiatric Intensive Care ward which is part of the acute services pathway In Adult Mental Health.

We are looking for a life experienced band 5 Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our OT team and be part of a wider Therapies team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone considering a move into a more specialist role. We would consider a previously experienced Return to Practice candidate or mature graduates with extensive life experiences. This is an interesting and rewarding part of the service and you would be part of an experienced and welcoming team of dedicated nurses, doctors and therapists.

When someone is first admitted you will initially be developing trust and therapeutic engagement, as recovery progresses, individual activitiesthen moving on to group work on the ward. There is aneed for a low stimulus environment. There is an activity coordinator in post who runs a programme of activities which can be used by OT for observational assessments. You will have opportunities to develop group work skills with the psychological group programme; currently mindfulness, distress tolerance and mood management which is run in the new therapies suite off the ward areas. The OT team support these groups.

We will provide excellent support through the therapies team reflective practice sessions, OT Team meetings, a Band 5 peer support group, regular supervision with senior OT, informal discussions with therapies and multi-disciplinary teams and OT specific training opportunities such as AMPS and MOCA. You will have the opportunity of attending 5 modules psychological therapies training which comprises behavioural activation, counselling, motivational interviewing, Anxiety management and DBT techniques. You will also have a month’s induction period where you will meet the wider OT network and be trained in risk assessment

And the bonus is that you will be working on the beautiful south coast.
