Save lives with your negotiation capabilities.

Combining compassionate care with cutting-edge treatments and world-leading research, the medical teams at NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) are dedicated to providing an outstanding service for every man, woman and child who needs them. And behind these skilled individuals stands an equally skilled and dynamic team of administrative and support  people who make their work possible. These people play a crucial role in saving and improving lives every single day – and it is this team that we would like you to consider joining.

Joining our Blood Centre in Filton, Bristol, you will negotiate and manage a variety of  strategic goods contracts and framework agreements that are crucial to the ongoing success of NHSBT. Based in our state-of-the art building – which is the largest blood manufacturing centre in the world – you will take responsibility for a broad cross-section of clients, ensuring they are providing value for money and that all contractual requirements are being met. It goes without saying that NHSBT contracts fall under public scrutiny and that we must therefore ensure a high quality and high value service is being achieved at all times, including meeting savings targets. As such, you will use the results of internal and external audits to promote a culture of continuous improvement, using your knowledge of Public  Contracts Regulations (2015) to ensure we’re legally compliant at all times.

Our procurement team work at a dynamic pace, seeing the contract process through from beginning to end. You will therefore have experience of purchasing and complex contracting on a large-scale in a similarly fast-paced role, with evidence of ongoing professional development. Ideally qualified to degree or NVQ level 4 standard (or in the final stages of one of these qualifications) in Business Studies or Procurement, it would be beneficial if you were a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or are working towards full membership – though this isn’t strictly necessary. Professional in your approach, with outstanding communication and people management capabilities, you will also have a full driving license and will be capable of using IT procurement systems including Excel, PowerPoint.

If you’re ready for your career to take on a fast-paced trajectory, then there really isn’t a better place to do it. Benefitting from our extensive induction and training programme when you join us, you will then be exposed to a multitude of career enhancement opportunities thanks to our ‘Shine’ learning and development strategy. Furthermore, you will be amply supported within the role,  including the highly desirable NHS pension scheme. We want you to flourish when you join us, so if you have the determination to see a project through its entire lifecycle, we’d love to hear from you.

Closing date:  16th February with interviews being held on 28th February 2020 (subject to change).

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
