Do you want to help save lives as a Business Analyst?

NHSBT saves and improves lives in a variety of ways across blood, organs, tissues, and biosciences, all supported by a complex ICT estate. We’re looking for a Business Analyst to join the growing team and work on our most important strategic projects to modernise our ICT. Within the ICT directorate, the Business Analysis Team focuses on uncovering and serving underlying business needs rather than simply replicating existing procedures.

The job will require you to contribute towards multiple projects each with their own deliverables and time-frames. Day-to-day, you’ll liaise with colleagues to manage your workload to meet these timeframes and renegotiate them where necessary before referring to your manager for support and guidance whenever needed.

You’ll produce and maintain the following documents as appropriate:

  • Business Requirements Specifications (including as-is/to-be/gap analysis);
  • Requirements Traceability Matrices;
  • Project Glossaries
  • Features, User Stories and backlog management for Agile delivery projects

And contribute to these:

  • Business Cases
  • Business Change Plans
  • Business Solution Assessments
  • System Solution Assessments
  • Stakeholder Management Plans

At this stage in your career, you’ll have begun to develop information gathering skills, including interviewing, workshop facilitation, mediation between conflicting viewpoints, surveys, document analysis, process mapping, and shadowing. You’ll be familiar with a variety of analysis and modelling methods and be able to understand and reconcile complex and conflicting elements into a coherent whole for presentation. You will have already developed strong interpersonal communication skill required to build consensus agreement amongst the subject matter experts and Business owners.

You will need to be comfortable with challenging existing viewpoints and taking advantage of any opportunities to improve the strategic position rather than replacing existing solutions like-for-like on new technology. It may include running small-scale pilots and experiments with business experts, in order to determine the best overall solution to a given problem. The vision for the BA Service is to develop “intelligent customers” by transferring appropriate business analysis skills and knowledge to the customer community to increase their capabilities and independence.

This role will benefit someone who is invested in their own continuing professional development and who is looking to up-skill and learn on the job within a team of like-minded Business Analysis professionals.

You will need to be able to spend time away from base to meet the requirements of the post and to travel extensively, including overnight stays when required (with appropriate prior notice). You will sign off your own hotel and travel costs and must be able to drive or use public transport. Extensive VDU use and good keyboard skills are required most days.

Interviews will take place during w/c 6th May 2019 (subject to confirmation)

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
