The North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust employees approx 2000 staff across 63 locations (including 54 ambulance stations) and serves a population of 2,600,000 people living in Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Tees in an area of approximately 3230 square miles.

Many people still think the sole job of the ambulance service is to collect patients and take them to hospital. In actual fact, modern ambulance services do a lot more!

The skills of a paramedic have developed enormously in recent years. This means we carry out more treatments at the scene, and en-route to hospital.

Our vehicles clock up more than four million miles every year. Our clinicians work with universities to develop new health initiatives. We pioneer new ways of working.

In fact our most recent pilot scheme for handling calls for an ambulance is being replicated across the UK! Something we are very proud of.

We also work closely with the communities we serve - listening and responding to any suggestions they may have.

We also have a specialised branch of the ambulance service called the HART team which deals with events such as explosions, terrorist attacks or biological threats.

Patients are at the heart of everything that we do to support our mission of "safe, effective and responsive care for all". We have a strong track record of delivering high quality patient care, focussing resources to produce the most effective outcomes. We are at the leading edge of innovative service design which has consistently led to us being one of the highest performing ambulance trusts in the country.

Please see attached our behaviours framework. ‘Our Behaviours’ were designed by all departments and define the behaviours that, when lived by us all, bring each of our six trust values to life, and shape our trust culture. These behaviours runs right through the organisation from recruitment to corporate induction to appraisal and are incorporated into one to one meetings with your manager.

Please note that certain roles at NEAS are subject to a DBS (criminal record check). Where this is the case the exact requirement will be clearly marked on the advert. Candidates should pay attention to the level of check required and the level of disclosure they must make to NEAS at the application stage. If the role requires a check as of April 2021 the candidate will be expected to incur the cost themselves.
