Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Forensic Services (Rampton Hospital)

Based at Rampton High Secure Hospital but may also be required to travel to other trust sites

Permanent, full time position (1WTE, 37.5 hours per week, no weekends/Bank Holidays)

Band 8a (plus EDC allowance)

Due to the promotion of the current post-holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Clinical Pharmacist to join and lead our clinical pharmacy service at Rampton Hospital. This unique post offers a qualified and experienced pharmacist the opportunity to further their career by working clinically in a high secure forensic mental health setting, and leading and supervising our expert and enthusiastic clinical pharmacists. The post is permanent and full time, although part-time and job share would be considered. Consideration will also be given to those returning to practice.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Forensic Pharmacy Services work across the county and beyond, providing a range of supply and clinical services within low, medium and high secure settings. Our pharmacy strategy aims to position pharmacists as clinicians and fully integrated members of the multidisciplinary team; optimising the use of medicines for our patients.

The Health Services Journal lists us as one of the best mental health trusts to work in. We were the Stonewall employer of the year in 2015. Our trust overall CQC rating is good.

We are looking for an experienced clinical mental health pharmacist with a relevant postgraduate qualification. You should have an existing or growing interest in leadership and working in secure mental health settings. You will join a highly motivated pharmacy team with responsibility for delivering a clinical pharmacy service to a mixed caseload of patients. You will be based at Rampton Hospital, which provides the National High Secure Service for Women as well as national services for people with a learning disability or who are deaf. Our dispensary is technician-led and we have several sites supplied via service level agreements so there is little dispensary commitment. Our on-call commitment is roughly one week in six and is generally not onerous, being predominantly an information provision service.

As well as leading our clinical pharmacy team, you will have responsibility for a clinical caseload and work as an integral multidisciplinary team member. You will be encouraged to use your skills to influence and improve patient care. Your involvement in the clinical pharmacy services will allow you an exclusive opportunity to develop or extend understanding and expertise in a secure mental health setting.

Support to develop any extra skills you may require in this specialised area will be provided. We actively support our staff to engage with relevant educational opportunities, including formal postgraduate qualifications. We have strong links with the College of Mental Health Pharmacy and have recently started working with the University of Nottingham.

Nottinghamshire is a great place to live, with both large cities and a range of rural areas within easy reach. Retford is on the East Coast main line; Kings Cross is 90 minutes away.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test.
