Children’s Occupational Therapy Assistant – Band 3

We are looking for an Occupational Therapy Assistant,to work alongside our supportive team of experienced therapists and assistants.

Experience of working with children, young people and families with disabilities and working in the field of therapy is desirable.

The successful candidate will deliver a high quality service as part of a team offering assessment and interventions to children aged 0-19 years,who have a variety of conditions, including Cerebral Palsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and learning difficulties.

You will work within home and clinic settings, nurseries as well as mainstream and special schools.

You will help support the running of groups, delivering individual therapy to children, educating families and other professionals who support children, making resources and contribute to the smooth running of the team’s activity. You will be fully supported by your line manager and supervisor and have opportunity for training and development of skills.

Due to the community nature of this post you will need to have experience of independent working, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team. You will need to be a car driver and have access to your own car.

Children and Family Health Surrey is the new, Surrey-wide NHS community health service for children and young people from birth up to 19 years of age (up to 25 for young adults with additional needs) and their parents and carers. It also provides some services in parts of North East Hampshire and Farnham.

By working together as one service, Children and Family Health Surrey will ensure children and young people continue to be at the centre of the care they receive as well as improve access to healthcare services across the county and in north east Hampshire and Farnham.

You will join a service that will be delivered through an exciting new partnership between three of Surrey’s established and respected community healthcare providers and employers: CSH Surrey and First Community Health and Care and Surrey’s mental health provider, Surrey and Borders NHS Foundation Trust. Together they provide a single community health service that includes health visiting, school-age nursing and immunisations, therapies (dietetics, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy), emotional wellbeing services and specialist health services for children with medical, physical and learning disability needs.

For the first time, Children and Family Health Surrey will bring together physical and emotional health services that are designed first and foremost around the needs of the children, young people and their families.
