SW Quadrant Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist - Clinical Specialist - up to full time hours


We are looking for a dysphagia and ABI specialist to join our busy, enthusiastic and supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists and Assistants. If you are interested in further developing your skills and contributing to ongoing service development in these areas, then working for Children and Family Health Surrey (CFHS) may be for you.


To deliver the high quality services for the children within Surrey we firmly believe this is achieved by ensuring our teams have access to effective, timely and high quality training and support.


To achieve this we provide a wide range of CPD including

  • Regular supervision with your line manager

  • A rolling programme of in-house training to update your knowledge and skills throughout the year in a range of topics relevant to your role

  • Access to a well-developed Learning and Development department offering leadership and personal development opportunities to support your personal development plan.

  • Access to a surrey wide dysphagia team for peer support and strategic delivery


You will be based at either Farnham Centre for Health or the Jarvis Centre in Guildford in Surrey. You will work as a member of our Early Years Team. This is a challenging and varied role.


Day to day you will be conducting assessments, writing reports and reviewing children between 0-5 years with dysphagia and communication needs. You will also support both pre-school and school-age children with ABI in the community as they are referred, and have a surrey wide opportunity to develop others skills in these areas.


You may work in a variety of settings - Health centres, Children’s Centres, nurseries, schools and patient’s homes.


As part of your ‘specialist’ role you may also be involved in:

  • Supporting and line-managing less experienced members of the team

  • Organising and co-ordinating a small team within your local area

  • Conducting multi-disciplinary assessments

  • Delivering training to parents, HVs or Nurseries

  • Running drop-in sessions

  • Working with a specialist caseload in dysphagia

  • Working with children with ABI as they are referred



Children and Family Health Surrey is made up of three partnering organisations; CSH Surrey, First Community Health and Care, and Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Together, we provide one Surrey-wide community health service for children and young people from 0 to 19 years of age (up to 25 years for young adults with additional needs) and their families and carers.
