Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our expanding Pharmacy team at Tadcaster and Selby Rural Primary Care Network (TaSR PCN).

Youll be joining a well-established network of three friendly practices caring for around 32,000 patients across the areas of Tadcaster Medical Centre, Sherburn Group Practice and South Milford Surgery. This role offers the chance to make a real difference to patient care while developing your professional skills in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment whilst also making an impact on patient care.

Working closely with our otherClinical Pharmacists, GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, and other Allied Health Professionals, youll play a key role in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines across our Practices.

You will work closely alongside Practices forming an integral part of the clinical teams whilst also working alongside or PCN Team as part of a PCN Hub. The role will sit alongside other Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

The right candidate should have a passion and drive for providing high quality patient centred care both in person and via telephone. A prescribing qualification is essential for the role. The post-holder will be required to enrol on the General Practice Pharmacist Training Pathway (CPPE) if not already completed.

Note: The role is eligible for a NEST pension.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

As a valued member of our PCN Pharmacy team, you will:

  • Support the PCN Practices with all aspects of medicines optimisation and medicines reconciliation.

  • Assist with Structured Medication Reviews and help implement their outcomes.

  • Conduct audits, manage discharge medication, and support with prescription issuing.

  • Contribute to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QoF), QIPP, and Enhanced Services targets

  • Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use.

  • Provide telephone-based medicines support to patients.

  • Help manage medicines in care homes, including ERD processes and medication requests.

  • Support national vaccination programmes, such as COVID-19 clinics.

  • Review and act on prescribing safety alerts and contribute to safer prescribing practices.

  • Provide data, insights, and feedback to improve medicines management across the PCN

Youll also help identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure patients receive high-quality, safe care at every stage of their treatment.
