Job summary

Rural Primary Care Network (PCN) is looking to recruit an Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our PCNs Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and our Frailty Hub Team. Our PCN team have built excellent working relationships between themselves and colleagues across the PCN, practices and colleagues from other PCNs. This is an exciting time to join Primary Care and shape the future of patient care at the first points of contact.

PCN's focus would be delivering PCN DES and improve capacity and access plan.

The main location base would be at Hartshill Medical Centre for the Frailty Hub Clinic.

Please note this is not an Agenda for Change Contract, however we are able to offer the NHS Pension Scheme to the successful candidate(s).

Main duties of the job

  • ECG recording
  • Blood Tests
  • Urine tests
  • Ear irrigation
  • Blood Pressure Checks
  • 24 hour BP Monitor Fit
  • NHS Health Checks
  • Assist with coil fits
  • Assist with minor surgery
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Ordering medical supplies / dressing supplies /medications for drug cupboard
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting our MDT Team during the performance of minor operations
  • Notifying the GP/PCN Lea of any significant patient issues
  • Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
  • Administration of the following injections/vaccines (with training)
  • B12
  • Pneumococcal
  • Seasonal Flu

Essential

  • Previous NHS experience. Microsoft Office Applications. Medical Terminology. Sound knowledge of key areas of new GMS contract, PCN DES and IIF. Ability to give attention to detail and follow protocol to ensure accuracy is maintained to a high standard. Ability to work on own initiative, to recognise confidentiality and sensitivity of issues and to handle accordingly. Good interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of the Practice team.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care
  • Experience of working in a GP practice

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Qualified with the Care Certificate or equivalent
  • Must have undertaken phlebotomy training
  • Must have previous experience of phlebotomy and primary care ( or similar nhs setting )
  • EMIS System Experience
