Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Jurassic Coast Primary Care Network on a 12-month maternity cover contract, supporting the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based respiratory care for patients with asthma, COPD and other respiratory conditions. Working across our beautiful coastal communities, you will play a key role in improving outcomes, supporting proactive care and helping patients manage their conditions well in their everyday lives.
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated clinician with a passion for respiratory care and collaborative working. In return, you will join a supportive, forward-thinking team, working closely with our Respiratory Nurse Specialist, practice teams and wider partners to shape consistent respiratory pathways across the PCN. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, make a visible difference to patient care and be part of a service that is growing with purpose and ambition.
Main duties of the job
You will provide respiratory care across Jurassic Coast Primary Care Network for patients with asthma, COPD and other long-term respiratory conditions, working across practice and community settings. As this is a maternity cover post, you will work with a high degree of autonomy during the absence of the Respiratory Nurse Specialist, managing your own caseload and supporting the ongoing delivery of a safe, responsive and consistent service.
The role includes running clinics, carrying out assessments and reviews, supporting treatment optimisation, providing education to help patients manage their condition confidently, and contributing to follow-up care after exacerbations or hospital discharge. You will also support diagnostic activity such as spirometry and FeNO where trained, identify patients who may benefit from further intervention or referral, and work closely with GP practices and the wider multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centred care.
This is a varied and rewarding role for a clinician who is confident working independently, enjoys collaborative working and wants to make a visible difference to respiratory care across the PCN.
