Job summary

This post would be a good opportunity for an enthusiastic HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to gain experience within a specialist rare disease genomics laboratory with very close clinical ties.

As a senior member of a close team of scientists and clinicians the post holder will have the opportunity to get involved with a diverse range of activities from routine diagnostic reporting to novel service development and research projects.

The laboratory is continually developing their testing repertoire and exploring new technologies and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help guide the future development of the service.

Our laboratory is part of the South East Genomics Laboratory Hub (SEGLH) and we are one of only two centers nationally that are commissioned to deliver the Gastro-Hepatology repertoire of tests for the NHSE Genomics Medicine Service.

If you are looking for a role with the opportunity to take on a variety of different tasks and see your work translate into beneficial service developments with real clinical impact then this could be the role for you.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Scientist to support the expansion and delivery of the Gastrohepatology genetic testing repertoire for the Liver Molecular Genetics service. The post holder will play an integral role within a specialised team focussed on the delivery of high quality specialised genomic testing.

The post holder will assist in the analysis, reporting, and authorisation of genomic data for patients undergoing investigations for rare hepatic and/or gastric disorders. Additionally, as a senior member of a relatively small team the post holder is expected to be involved with all aspects of the dry-lab activity within the service.

You must be a HCPC registered Clinical Scientist (in genetics) with significant experience working in a diagnostic genetics laboratory. Experience with laboratory quality management systems and the analysis and reporting of next generation sequencing data would be advantageous. You must be meticulous, well organised, and capable of working successfully within a team.
