Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and dynamic team where you can shape and directly impact staff working in primary care workforce.

This senior leadership role is role is designed for a candidate who can readily develop strong effective relationships with employers, education providers and key stakeholders to drive forward the clinical needs of the primary care workforce.

This ideal candidate a highly experienced clinician currently working in a primary care environment who is in good standing with their relevant regulator. They will provide senior leadership alongside the Programme Manager and Education Lead to the NATH Team. They will be a strategic thinker that can help align the clinical priorities within the ICS with workforce strategies. They will manage the Multi-professional Support Unit (MPSU) within NATH which provides high quality education to the primary care workforce. In addition, they will have oversight of student placements and develop innovative solutions to addressing educational requirements of stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

Leadership provide senior clinical leadership to the NATH and address gaps against delivery against the Nottingham & Notts ICS clinical and workforce priorities.

Strategy Development & Delivery - collaborate with senior leader and NATH Board to ensure NATH is able to deliver against NHSE and ICS priorities around primary care workforce initiatives, training and training and proactively develop strong and effective working relationships with education providers.

Manage the Multi-Professional Support Unit team

Engagement ensure NATH has strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery of workforce initiatives.

Leadership

To provide clinical leadership to Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub (NATH) and oversight to the team members.

Contribute alongside other clinical leads, towards the identification of workforce gaps ensuring delivery against the current general practice workforce strategy in Nottingham & Notts ICS.

Strategy Development & Delivery

Identify and support the key workforce priorities for their localities, ensuring alignment with the Primary Care Strategy and workforce strategy by collaborating with, including but not limited to, the local General Practices, Primary Care Networks, Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System/Board (ICB/ICS), NHS WT&E and key stakeholders.

Utilise data to support focussed areas of workforce development as well as the promotion of careers and career pathways within general practice

Support the development and implementation of policies, guidelines, procedures and practice (ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and professional bodies' requirements) and ensure this is applied across NATH.

Work closely with the leadership teams within all stakeholder organisations, contributing towards the development of commissioning intentions and assisting the ICS/ICB to deliver their key strategic workforce objectives and performance targets.

Ensure delivery against key performance indicators, reporting on NATH Board within agreed timescales.

Provide oversight and management to the Multi-Professional Support Unit, supporting delivery of learning opportunities to primary care staff.

Keep abreast of policy changes and clinical priorities in the ICS within your area of professional expertise

To support the increase in placement/training numbers and support the implementation and ongoing delivery of the NHSE Workforce, Training and Education (NHSE WTE) Quality Assurance Framework, ensuring continued improvement.

Support and oversee the Training Hub team to ensure collaboration with general practice, Primary Care Networks enabling the development of safe and effective interprofessional clinical learning environments, liaising where necessary with local universities, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) or any other quality driven stakeholders

Proactively develop relationships & work collaboratively with all providers of education within general practice; including but not limited to practical clinical learning environments and Higher Education Institutes (HEI).

Engagement

Build and maintain effective professional relationships both with internal and external stakeholders, professionals and organisations.

To represent NATH at strategic meetings with internal and external stakeholders across Nottingham & Nottinghamshire.

Engages primary care stakeholder organisations across the ICS in order to support the development of workforce offers.

Communicates with individual practices & PCNs to offer support and promotion of education and training offers available to them.

Reporting

Support the senior leadership to ensure robust systems and process in place to capture and report on KPIs most relevant to the post

Keep up to date with all NHSE, ICB and ICS policy and guidance related to Primary Care workforce development. Summarise and share with NATH colleagues, when appropriate.

Essential

  • In good standing with their relevant regulator (GMC, NMC, HCPC) and meet the requirements of revalidation. If a GP on the national performers list. If not a GP, be registered with appropriate professional body.

  • A good understanding of the challenges pertaining to advanced clinical practice
  • A good understanding of the public sector and NHS policy, in relation to primary and community care.
