Job summary

We are expanding our ASD diagnostic services and are looking to welcome Consultant Psychiatrists to our growing multidisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to be part of a supportive service that is scaling to meet rising demand, helping to reduce waiting times, accelerate diagnoses and improve outcomes for children and families.

Main duties of the job

  • Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist required to deliver autism diagnostic assessments for children aged 1-11 years
  • Children aged 5-7 years are typically seen by a Paediatrician; children aged 7+ can be seen by a Psychiatrist
  • You will work as part of an MDT alongside Paediatricians, Psychologists, OTs, SALTs and Nurses
  • All clinical documentation and reporting will be completed using SystmOne

Job responsibilities

Role Overview

  • Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist required to deliver autism diagnostic assessments for children aged 111 years
  • Children aged 57 years are typically seen by a Paediatrician; children aged 7+ can be seen by a Psychiatrist
  • You will work as part of an MDT alongside Paediatricians, Psychologists, OTs, SALTs and Nurses
  • All clinical documentation and reporting will be completed using SystmOne

Whats Included in Each Assessment

  • Structured developmental and medical history (parental interview + records review) - *history can be completed remotely*
  • Autism diagnostic tools (ADOS-2, ADI-R as indicated) on-site
  • Clinical evaluation including physical/medical context and co-morbidities (e.g. anxiety, ADHD, LD)
  • Participation in MDT discussion and consensus
  • Same-day verbal feedback to families following assessment
  • Written diagnostic report with signposting to local services within 6-8 weeks
  • Follow-up phone call at 6 weeks post-diagnosis to review wellbeing, engagement with support services and answer questions

  • Full GMC registration
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training and enhanced DBS on the Update Service

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in autism assessment and ADOS / ADI-R
