Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Band 5 or Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic, energetic and supportive Children's Therapy Team in Exeter. We require the successful applicant to have at least one year's experience working as a physiotherapist post-qualification if applying for the Band 5 role.

The post is based at Vranch house Centre in Exeter. The team is a fun multidisciplinary team located in a special school.

Vranch House is a flourishing, well-respected charity with a large out-patient therapy service providing Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy across Devon and a school for children aged 2-19 with complex physical difficulties. The charity is jointly commissioned by the local CCG and Devon County Council and is the hub of the area neurodisability team.

The post-holder will be responsible for a clinical caseload providing PT assessments, treatment and advice to children with a wide variety of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions within the community as well as special school pupils.

The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills, and a polite and professional manner.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for their own caseload, carrying out assessments and review appointments. As well as carrying out independent physiotherapy assessments they will also deliver combined assessments working alongside an occupational therapist.

As well as one-to-one appointments clinical interventions may include group sessions and other clinical interactions.

The caseload will consist of children with a wide range of conditions ranging from in-toeing or hypermobility to cerebral palsy and life-limiting conditions. You will be able to access hydrotherapy, hippotherapy and rebound therapy.

The post is full time (37.5 hours per week) and is based at Vranch House Centre in Exeter. External visits to patients at their mainstream schools or to attend meetings or training will occasionally be necessary so own car and a full UK driving licence is required.

Today the Charity includes out-patient departments in Exeter and Barnstaple, a special school for children aged 2-19yrs, and physiotherapy teams in three other special schools in Devon.
