Job summary

Our Receptionist / Administrator team undertake a wide variety of tasks including checking patients in for their appointments, booking appointments, answering telephone queries, and processing incoming and outgoing post.

The role would suit someone who is good at multitasking, problem-solving with an empathetic nature, who has a passion for helping patients and providing excellent customer service.

The reception team is currently made up of 8 staff members who cover the Outpatients activity, predominantly based at Dorking & Redhill, with travel to our other sites.

With the addition of a new site in Epsom we are increasing the team, the role will cover all locations, with travel to other sites as necessary. The staff work on a rota basis, which includes evenings and some weekends, the shift pattern varies from week to week.

This role is not eligible for sponsorship, so all candidates must have a valid right to work in the UK.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will have previous patient or customer-facing experience and excellent communication skills. Within this fast-paced environment, it is necessary to remain calm and maintain a high level of attention to detail.

The successful applicant will be able to help manage the workload efficiently and effectively on a daily basis to facilitate the patients care being as smooth and efficient as possible.

We will provide the training necessary to use our in-house IT systems, however, a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office would be beneficial. You will be required to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Please note that the role covers multiple sites, mainly Dorking and Redhill, but travel to our other locations in Epsom or Oxted may also be needed, so being able to travel between locations (e.g. by car or public transport) is essential.

  • To reschedule appointments and clinics when requested and by the deadlines specified, using the computerised system.

  • To receive and dispatch mail promptly
  • To ensure appropriate handover of information relating to reception/ administrative work
