A
Registered Practitioner who will form a key part of the endoscopy team by
providing skills in all areas of Endoscopy for both diagnostic and therapeutic
procedures from pre-assessment to discharge.
Work
collaboratively with clinicians, service managers to provide the best possible
care to patients
An
ability to apply theory to practice to provide a high standard of perioperative
care to all patients, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to.
The
post holder displays excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The
post holder may be involved in ensuring the seamless transfer of patients to an
acute trust should such a situation arise.
Main duties of the job
Act
as a professional role model to junior and non-qualified support staff.
Provide
skilled assistance and care to patients within the endoscopy department.
Assess
care needs of the endoscopy patient and develops, implements and evaluates
programmes of care, rectifying and adjusting to meet individual needs.
Demonstrates
knowledge of current research, practices and procedures within the specialist
field.
Communicates
effectively both verbally and in writing with the multidisciplinary team,
patients and relatives.
Works
within professional codes of conduct.
Ensure
that the patients needs are continually assessed and appropriate care delivered
and documented.
Supervise
the work of junior staff ensuring quality and confidentiality is maintained.
Manage
own workload and support others to do this.
Undertake
training, if required, and support teaching and development of all staff.
Be
responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and
professional awareness in accordance with NMC or HPC requirements.
