A position has
arisen for a Phelbotomist to join our team.
We are looking for
a motivated, enthusiastic, committed individual to join our friendly and
forward-thinking supportive team. The candidate will join our nursing team which currently consists of three practices nurses and three
health care assistants.
We are a practice
that is strongly focused on working together to serve our diverse patient
population and community.
Due to the nature
of the role, weekly working hours and salary are negotiable dependent on experience. We
expect the role to be worked over 5 days per week.
You will be someone
who has a passion to join general practice to provide high quality care based
on the needs of our population, this will include treatment, screening,
prevention care and patient education.

Summary of Role -
To provide a professional, reliable, welcoming friendly service, ongoing care and treatment to patients alongside the Nursing team or independently to agreed protocols and procedures.
You will be
responsible for providing:
Phlebotomy, New patient checks, ECG recording, chaperoning duties, process and management of laboratory samples requested by clinicians, BP testing/monitoring and administration tasks that may be required, Patient health and wellbeing promotion and education.
You will work as part of the nursing team, support and work with colleagues to manage workloads to provide continued excellent patient care to the patient population.
You will have a range of clinical and administrative skills developed through experience and be competent to provide ongoing patient care according to
practice policy and protocols.
About us
We are a four
partner teaching practice with a practice population of approximately 9600
patients, our team also includes 5 salaried GPs, 3 practice nurses, 3 health
Care assistants and a experienced team of reception, secretarial and admin
staff.
We have a spacious,
modern building with car parking facilities.

Duties and responsibilities:
Phlebotomy

Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
Cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Essential
- GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience in healthcare or related field.
- Qualification in phlebotomy.

- Basic IT Skills
- Good communication/interpersonal skills including written and oral.
- working as part of an established multi-disciplinary team
- Confidence to work on his/her own initiative and under direction.
Desirable
- Previous experience in Primary Care
- Use of SystmOne clinical system.
