Job summary

As a Senior Social Worker with Change Grow Live you will role model and lead ethical and evidence-based practice, focusing on the experience for people who use services. You will be a specialist lead to the team, providing advice and consultation on risk, safeguarding and complex needs. You will also provide professional oversight of the Designated Safeguarding Lead/s in the team and provide professional accountability for complex decision making and work collaboratively with the multi- disciplinary team to establish safe and effective ways to work with people.

Main duties of the job

This role will play a key part in the leadership of the team, leading and managing socialworkers, and bringing social work knowledge and skills to support the wider team to havethe most positive impact for people who use services. The role will work flexibly todevelop the social work support offer.

The Senior Social Worker will role model and lead ethical and evidence-based practice,focusing on the experience for people who use services. They will be a specialist lead tothe team, providing advice and consultation on risk, safeguarding and complex needs.

They will facilitate empowerment of teams and individuals to increase knowledge, skillsand professional confidence.

The role will facilitate development of others including the leadership and managementof social workers and social work apprentice roles. The role will support the team toenhance their reflective practise skills using coaching skills and collaborativeapproaches.

The role will also provide professional oversight of the Designated Safeguarding Lead/sin the team. They will provide professional accountability for complex decision makingand work collaboratively with the multi- disciplinary team to establish safe andeffective ways to work with people.

The role will facilitate the development of pathways that enable people to navigate the wider support system and to develop knowledge and skills across the sectors.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Lead social workers, social work apprentices, and where relevant, related team members, across the service, providing operational management and professional reflective supervision

Offer quality assurance and on-going learning to support the team with completion of effective referrals and sustaining effective referral pathways

Coach and develop the team to work with people where there are complex issues related to substance misuse such as to domestic abuse, child exploitation, criminal justice, caring responsibilities, mental health, safeguarding

Be the strategic lead for identified, specific areas of the service i.e. Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), Adults Safeguarding or Children Safeguarding, and attend relevant external meetings representing the service and the organisation locally, regionally and nationally.

Oversee the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead contributing to the safety and well-being of people

Keep legal literacy updated to provide accurate advice and guidance teams to facilitate decision making, partnership working and planning

Utilise leadership and coaching skills to provide reflective supervision to the multi-disciplinary staff team

Contribute to team and organisational learning by undertaking incident reviews and investigations (including the death of service users) and producing high quality investigation reports

Support the team to increase their knowledge and skills by delivering bespoke training, workshops and bitesize learning

Focus on professional relationships create and sustain strong partnership working, to increase understanding of roles and services, and to create collaborative approaches and effective referral pathways within the integrated care systems

Support, learning and development of social work students on placement and newly qualified social workers undertaking their ASYE programme. Undertake the role of Practice Educator if applicable and support social workers to undertake their practice educator role

Understand the purpose of administrative tasks and complete them to a high standard

Be committed to professional and ethical practice as set out by regulatory body, Social Work England, and maintain professional registration

Engage in continuous professional development through training, peer support, supervision and independent learning
