Preceptorship opportunity:We welcome applications from trainee psychologists due to qualify in 2025. A preceptorship pathway is available for those not yet meeting the criteria for a Highly Specialist role, with a clear development plan and support to progress within 18 months to 3 years.
Main duties of the job
About the role:
- Youll be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering trauma-informed, recovery-focused psychological care to individuals who use substances.
- Many of the people we support experienceco-occurring mental health challenges and neurodiversity, and your role will be key in helping the team understand and respond to this complexity with compassion and skill.
- Working under the supervision of a Consultant Psychologist, youll provide comprehensive assessments, formulations, and evidence-based interventions.
- Youll support the delivery ofevidence-based psychological group interventions, with a focus onthird-wave CBT approachessuch asACT, DBT, CFT, and mindfulness.
- Youll contribute tostaff training and wellbeing initiatives, and play a key role inservice development, research, and audit projectsaligned with CGLs national Research and Development Strategy.
- Youll be instrumental in shaping a service that is inclusive, innovative and responsive; grounded in a culture of continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Our model prioritises physical, psychological, and emotional safety, helping people regain control and empowerment in their lives and communities.
- Youll also contribute tosystemic change, helping embed psychological thinking across the organisation through consultation, team formulation, reflective practice, and training.

Provide clinical leadership; supporting your own services development to deliver psychology, psychosocial therapy and talking therapies
Provide clinical leadership and supervision within the sphere of your professional expertise
Provide evidence-based and evidence-informed interventions with due regard to issues of equality, diversity and inclusion
Actively promote integrated health/care professional working internally and externally
Deliver regular monthly reflective practice, team formulations and other psychologically informed approaches
Support delivery and understanding of an effective, trauma-informed psychology provision within your service
Lead the more junior psychological professionals within your service
Provide clinical supervision and consultation to assistant psychologists and counsellors as appropriate

Provide consultation, training and clinical supervision to support the provision of psychologically-based interventions
Provide highly specialist, psychological assessment and formulation for the people who use our services
Promote and contribute to multidisciplinary assessments
Provide highly specialist interventions
Receive regular clinical supervision
Lead provision to ensure that interventions provided are trauma informed
Research & Development
Contribute to and support colleagues
Use specialist knowledge of research methods to initiate and support research, service evaluation and audit, to improve services
