Job summary

gtd healthcare is one of the largest NHS commissioned Primary and Urgent care providers in North West England. We have an excellent opportunity for a Medical Auditor to come onboard on a part time basis.

This role presents the opportunity to be a part of the Governance Team who are committed to continuously improving, adapting and trialing new and innovative ways of working with a focus on quality improvement and learning lessons to ensure the provision of safe, high-quality care.

Under the direction of the Head of Assurance, the post holder will provide support to gtd healthcares clinical audit programme. This involves carrying out routine audits of consultations performed by doctors and pharmacists working for and on behalf of gtd healthcare across all of its urgent care services, including the Greater Manchester Urgent & Primary Care Alliance (GMUPCA).

As a Medical Auditor, youwill be expected to provide feedback on your findings both to individuals using the tools available and through aggregated reports; concerns are to be escalated through the agreed appropriate channels. You will also be required to participate in group reviews and cross-validation exercises to ensure a high quality, standardised approach is maintained.

This role is 12 hours per week, hours of work to be worked between Monday and Friday, hybrid working model, pattern to be agreed.

Main duties of the job

  • Supporting gtd healthcares clinical audit programme through the completion of routinely identified consultation audits for doctors and pharmacists across gtd healthcares urgent care services in a timely manner.
  • Using the appropriate and current consultation audit tools as indicated, e.g. Clinical Guardian for routine audits.
  • Maintaining personal up-to-date clinical knowledge through reference to all relevant sources, e.g. NICE, CKS, evidence-based journals, etc, to support credible, objective and evidence-based peer review.
  • Escalating concerns identified through audits via the appropriate route, e.g. referral for group review, reporting to designated lead, reporting on gtds incident management tool (Ulysses).
  • Participation in gtds cross-validation process to ensure a standardised approach to the consultation audits.
  • Undertaking ad-hoc audits dependent upon service needs, e.g. working with the Governance Team to support the management of complaints and incidents.
  • Providing regular verbal and written audit reports for internal and external committees as required.
  • Providing advice and support to managers involved in making improvements in practice within their own services as a result of audit findings and recommendations.
  • Exploring and identifying organisational recommendations for staff skills development in response to audit findings and themes identified.
