Job summary

To co-ordinate outpatient activities at Cobham and Epsom Day Surgeries by liaising with consultants (and their secretaries and Trusts), radiographers, nurses, schedulers and facilities management.

To work effectively as a member of clinical nursing team to ensure the provision of the highest standard of patient and customer, accepting delegated responsibility for specific activities from Outpatient Manager.

Main duties of the job

To carry out clinical duties in accordance with unit policies and procedures ensuring effective running of clinics, minimising waiting times and auditing to ensure compliance with national standards

To carry out dressing changes as per Consultants preference and report and concerns

To provide nursing care without supervision, within the level of the post holders experience and competence

To undertake phlebotomy in a competent manner

To support clinicians in running clinics in a timely manner

To ensure high standard of infection control and the prevention of all avoidable healthcare associated infections

Ensure relevant clinical skills are adequate and updated in accordance with PREP and that they are developed in accordance with the requirements for the position held. Participate in mandatory staff training and training relevant to departmental role

Prepare and maintain clinical records in line with NMC standards for records and record keeping

Provide support and training to other members of staff, such as staff orientation and procedures and equipment handling

Meet legal and statutory requirements e.g., Health & Safety, COSH Regulations & Manual Handling

To ensure sound and effective working relationship and communication with all hospital staff and Consultants

To act as patients, advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are met.

Any other duties deemed suitable by the manager as appropriate to the grade.
