Welcome to FCMS!

Were on the lookout for a proactive and people-focused Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator to join our Quality and Risk team and help us create a workplace thats not only safe and sustainable but great place to be. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines hands-on support, coordination of processes and collaborative energy across health, safety, environmental, and facilities functions.

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (with some evening and weekends required for training delivery across sites and services)

Salary: £12.91 per hour

Main duties of the job

Youll play a key part in embedding our health and safety culture, advancing our environmental and sustainability goals, and keeping our work environment running smoothly and efficiently. The post requires the ability to link together a multitude of different elements within a dynamic and fast paced environment.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety general support
  • Carry out administrative health and safety tasks, including DSE assessments, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), and pregnancy risk assessments.
  • Support regular H&S audits, reviews, and the maintenance of the risk assessment index.
  • Assist in incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up actions.
  • Collate H&S data and produce clear and engaging reports for key stakeholders.
  • Develop and distribute H&S communications and internal newsletters.
  • Support with Fleet management
  • Support health and safety campaigns and continuous improvement initiatives.

Environmental & Sustainability Support

  • Support the planning and delivery of environmental and sustainability programmes.
  • Help gather, manage, and review data related to energy use, waste, and other environmental KPIs.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance records and supporting reporting obligations (e.g., ESOS, SECR, ISO14001).
  • Promote and engage colleagues in workplace sustainability initiatives.

Facilities & Contractor Management

  • Help coordinate contractor access and ensure appropriate inductions and permits are in place.
  • Monitor and support the completion of planned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure facilities contribute to a safe, clean, and welcoming work environment.
  • Assist in creating a high-performing workplace experience through collaboration with service providers and internal teams.

Reception & Workplace Support

  • Provide ad-hoc reception cover, creating a warm and professional first impression.
  • Support with general workplace queries and facilities requests as needed.

  • Competent in Microsoft Office and confident in creating reports, newsletters, and presentations.

Desirable:

  • A Health, Safety or Environmental related qualification, or willing to work towards this as part of the role.
  • Knowledge or experience of environmental reporting or standards (e.g., ISO 14001).
  • Experience in contractor coordination or facilities support.
