Hours:Bank contract (Zero Hours)

Pay:£23.60 - £27.01 per hour - depending on experience

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work in the Community setting supporting the team.

To perform and have expertise in a range of highly specialised Non-Obstetric Ultrasound procedures/techniques in line with BMUS guidelines

Job responsibilities

To perform and have expertise in a range of highly specialised Non-Obstetric Ultrasound procedures/techniques in line with BMUS guidelines

To perform scans, provide accurate, reproducible reports. The reports must be completed within the timescales agreed by the Commissioners & Head of Diagnostics.

To recognise the significance of investigation findings/diagnoses and act on these accordingly

To liaise closely with the Lead Sonographer & Consultant Radiologist and seek guidance/advice when required.

Keep up to date with all relevant policies and guidance e.g. NICE

To contribute accordingly to the maintenance of standards and quality in service development of the Non-Obstetric Ultrasound service provided, including active involvement in the training of related staff, whist also maintaining and further developing ones own professionalism and expert skills and knowledge.

Participate in the implementation and on-going delivery of the relevant service.

Adhere to policies and procedures of the company and keep up to date with procedures and changes within the role.

To build and maintain professional relationships with host practices and secondary care clinicians.

Maintaining professional standards/ training

To be trained and accredited under the auspices of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and to partake in providing Basic Life Support (BLS) cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as and when necessary

To help ensure that all equipment in use within the service is in safe working order and fully functional

To be self-motivated and resourceful, developing ones own personal knowledge, skills, professionalism and expertise in the speciality, so showing evidence of continuous growth and personal, as well as professional development

To hold HCPC registration or equivalent, and maintain this by Continuing Professional Development

To complete the company Mandatory training programme as required

Administrative Duties

This includes general administrative duties which will comprise of:

Accessing clinical systems to view patient records.

General communication to the administrative team via email and verbally.

Maintaining consumable stock levels at clinic and requesting stock.

Confidentiality

In the course of your duties, you may have access to confidential material about patients, members of staff or other health service business. On no account must information relating to identifiable patients be divulged to anyone other than authorised persons, for example, medical, nursing or other professional staff, as appropriate, who are concerned directly with the care, diagnosis and /or treatment of the patient. If you are in any doubt whatsoever as to the authority of a person or body asking for information of this nature, you must seek advice from your manager. Similarly, no information of a personal or confidential nature concerning individual members of staff should be

divulged to anyone without the proper authority having first been given. Failure to observe these rules will be regarded by FCMS as serious or gross misconduct which could result in disciplinary action being taken against you.

Health and Safety/Security

Staff must be aware of and adhere to the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act and to ensure their own safety and the safety of colleagues and patients. Staff must also be aware of the action to be taken in the event of a fire and must attend a fire lecture annually. It is the duty of every employee to work in such a way that accidents to themselves and to others are avoided, and to co-operate in maintaining their place of work in a tidy and safe condition, thereby minimising risk.
