Job summary

This role is a Health Care Assistant role based in a busy Urgent Treatment Centre in Fleetwood. Undertaking a range of clinical and administrative duties.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake a range of clinical duties including venepuncture, ECGs, wound care, observations, and applying plaster of paris to patients with fractures and personal care to patients.

The post holder will also contribute to administrative, reception/floorwalker and housekeeping duties within the service location.

Job responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Post holder will ensure prompt reporting of any relevant information regarding patients including observation of progress or deterioration in the patients condition to the trained staff

Endeavour to maintain good standards of communication both in written and oral form

Make entries on patient records to record clinical interventions

Make entries in the clinical notes using the service areas computer programmes ADASTRA and EMIS

Complete associated documents to accompany specimens using Cyberlab where available and label specimens

Communicate with patients and carers in a polite and pleasant manner

Receive and deliver patient related information to and from other departments via the telephone/ emails

Acknowledge and accommodate barriers to communication and understanding including speech, hearing, language, and emotion

May be required to encourage patients to comply with programmes of care

Initiate emergency action when required

Obtain and dispatch specimens on request

Undertake routine administration and reception

Assist patients using our self-assessment device (Floorwalker role)

Assist in the ordering and supplying of materials and equipment e.g. stores after authorisation by the reception team leader

Inform the Clinical Lead of any untoward incidents

Take responsibility for the cleaning and stocking of clinical areas

Dispose of clinical waste in a safe manner for each clinical room

Contribute to infection control measures by adhering to infection control policies/procedures

Education and In Service Training

Be fully conversant in all the clinical computer systems used within Fleetwood Urgent Treatment Centre

Attend relevant study/induction days, seminars, courses etc. for individual development and for the benefit of the service. Keep up to date with mandatory training.
