We are looking for an enthusiastic, professional candidate to provide a professional and high-quality reception service at the Minor Injuries Unit, Rossendale.

Hours: Part Time. The Service operates on a 4-weekly Rota. 8am-8pm all 3 days.

The vacancies are Week 2: Tuesday; Week 3: Monday and Tuesday, and please confirm in your application that you would be available for all 3 days. (For example, Week 3 would be 15th April, Week 2 6th/7th May). Opportunities to work additional hours potentially available.

Salary: £11.44 per hour from April 1st 2024

Main duties of the job

Role

The post holder will work at the Minor Injuries Unit, Rossendale, providing reception and administrative support to the services we provide. The service is operational 7 days a week from 8am-8pm.The shifts are on a 4-week rolling rota system consisting of 12 hours per day. The successful candidate may be requested to work extra shifts on the Bank to help cover shortfalls in the service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Greeting patients in a polite and welcoming manner
  • Gathering patient identifiable information, taking a concise history of symptoms, and accurately inputting within the computer system (Adastra)
  • Always ensuring full patient confidentiality
  • Always adhering to the triage process and to identify patients requiring urgent medical attention
  • Monitoring the waiting area and be observant to any signs of deterioration in any of the patients
  • Telephone answering, photocopying, scanning, and emailing
  • Completing Excel spreadsheets for data collection and audit information to support the Operational Service Lead with KPI reports
  • Managing a Direct Booking system
  • Liaising with external agencies, i.e., 111, hospital departments, 999, GP Surgeries
  • Working effectively under pressure in a calm and confident manner
  • Maintaining a consistent, quality, and professional service
  • Working as an individual and as part of an established team
  • Undertaking administrative duties as directed by the Service Delivery Coordinator
  • Undertaking Receptionist tasks as directed by the Clinicians on duty

This Job Description will be periodically reviewed in the light of developing work requirements. The Service Delivery Coordinator may also ask for other duties to be carried out to the benefit of the organisation. The individual in post will be expected to contribute towards that revision.

Where necessary relevant training in the operation of new or unfamiliar equipment, software or procedures will be provided or arranged.

The post holder will be expected to attend any necessary courses that provide relevant training.
