ourselves on the quality of care we offer our patients. All the work we undertake is for the NHS. We are looking for a Theatre Healthcare Assistant
for our Gloucester service, based at Aspen Medical Centre. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will have
a background and experience in theatre, outpatients or recovery.
This role is 25 hours per week, with hours worked between Monday and Friday, so there is no evening working, and nor do
we operate on bank holidays.In addition to a competitive salary, Independent
Health Group also offers 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays), a day off for your birthday, and a generous pension scheme.
Main duties of the job
As a Theatre Healthcare Assistant
(HCA) you will support the patient through their procedure, providing a high standard
of individualised patient care as part of the clinical team. The
HCA will attend to the peri-operative needs of the patients, under the direct
management of a Registered Practitioner.
You will help maintain an environment that is
conducive to the delivery of a high standard of individualised, holistic and
safe patient care, and to the establishment of good communications between
staff, patients and other visitors. We are looking for someone with previous theatre or hospital experience.

Main Responsibilities
- Working in accordance with IHGs
values, policies and procedures, the HCA will provide high quality care to
patients by
- Supporting with setting up
and packing away the clinical and recovery rooms at the start and finish of the
day.
- Assisting the patient and attending
to their physical comfort before, during and after their procedure.
- Performing and reporting
clinical observation of a patients temperature, pulse, respiration rate and
blood pressure (following completion of appropriate training). Observing and reporting changes in a patients
condition to the Registered Practitioner or Clinician.
- Communicating effectively
with patients, ensuring patient understanding, comfort and well-being.
- Recording patient
information accurately and in a timely fashion using manual or computer systems
and maintaining the confidentiality of that information.
- Assisting in maintaining a
clean, safe work environment.
- Assisting with maintaining of
stock levels, ensuring replacement stock is ordered.
- Taking responsibility for
own development and learning
- Ensuring we deliver the
best care possible by always looking for things we can improve on and reporting
any adverse incidents.
- Assisting the clinician and
the patient in the Outpatient clinic.Performing pre-list checks
and ensuring the documentation is available i.e. ICP and X-rays

workers undertaking EPPs should have:
- Documented evidence of Hepatitis B
immunity (including appropriate antibody titres),
- Immunity or vaccination records for MMR
and Varicella,
- TB screening/BCG status,
- Access to annual flu vaccination, and
- Ideally, COVID-19 vaccination, in line
with current public health guidance.
