Consultant Ophthalmologist Westbury - Practising Privileges

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join Independent Health Group as an Ophthalmic Surgeon on a practising privileges contract. You will be based within our cataract service at the White Horse Centre in Westbury, but may be offered work in and around Wiltshire. We are looking for a surgeon to work for us on Wednesdays for up to 4 sessions per month, based on 8 patients per session. Pay rate is £120 per eye.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients referred for cataract evaluation, ensuring all clinical decisions are evidence-based and in line with national ophthalmic guidelines.
  • Perform cataract surgery (phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation) to a high clinical standard, ensuring optimal visual outcomes and patient safety.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, discuss treatment options, obtain informed consent, and ensure patients are fully aware of the risks, benefits, and expected outcomes of surgery.
  • Provide post-operative care, including the review and management of any complications or secondary procedures

  • FRCOphth / MRCOphth or equivalent ophthalmic qualification.
