Job summary

We are looking for someone that is versatile who can deal with patients, GPs, and Allied Health professionals.

Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Main duties of the job

The following are the core responsibilities of the Patient Services Administrator. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

Administration

  • To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
  • To work in accordance with written protocols
  • Processing Referrals
  • Organising meetings

Reception

  • Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team
  • Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
  • Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary
  • Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Deal with visits/requests
  • Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records if necessary
  • Process patients changes of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area)
  • Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines

Telephone

  • Have working knowledge of telephone system.
  • Cover for telephonist when necessary.

Other Tasks

  • Clear rooms after surgeries
  • Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
  • Recall patients for appointments.
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers.

About us

Salus is a GP Federation which was formed by the local GP practices within Northeast Hampshire and Farnham.This Includes practices located in Aldershot, Farnborough, Fleet, Farnham & Yateley.We hold several contracts supporting primary care to deliver services on behalf of those practices, helping them work better together and with other healthcare providers leading to improved patient services and developing new ones due to constant changes in the Primary Care environment.

Salus Medical Services hold a PMS contract for Mayfield Medical Centre this practice is run by Salus Medical Services and all the staff are employed by Salus.There are no partner GPs only salaried GPs.

We also assist practices with admin, operational and HR support and facilitate shared learning across localities.By engaging with the public, we also help ensure that services are designed and developed with patient and public involvement.

The staff at Salus Medical Services have a wealth of experience working in general practice and therefore a good understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced.
