Job summary
We are looking for Paramedics who
have recently qualified or due to qualify within the next 6 months with an
interest in Primary Care.
The (NQP) will participate in a
structured programme to consolidate their qualification & placement
experience to develop into an autonomous Paramedic following the structured
(NQP) pathway. This will consist of direct & indirect clinical supervision
of reflective practice & feedback to apply their knowledge in line with the
national NQP programme.
The Trainee Paramedic
Practitioner, acting within their growing level of competence, will join the
existing team of Newly Qualified, Specialist and Advanced Paramedics, providing
the first point of call for patients requesting on the day undifferentiated
urgent care. They will be responsible for initial patient assessment and
forming of differential diagnoses. With support of the Duty Paramedic
Practitioner & GP colleagues when required, they will decide on & implement
further patient management.
Patients will be seen in a
variety of settings including within clinic and in their own home with support
from multi-disciplinary colleagues.
We have successfully supported a
number of Newly Qualified Paramedics from initial registration to Paramedic
Practitioner stage and have a wealth of experience in this area.

We are currently only seeking
applicants who are interested in working full time this is worked with
compressed hours over a 4 day working week. P/T applications are not being
considered for this role at this time due to the high level of support and
supervision required to support the Trainee Paramedic Practitioners
development.

Once the Newly Qualified Paramedic pathway has
been completed (usually in 12-24 months), Trainee Paramedic Practitioners will
be promoted to the role of Student Paramedic Practitioner. As a Student
Paramedic Practitioner, Salus will fund an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice in
partnership with the University of Surrey. Salus also provides protected
training time for university days and TOIL if this affectsyour rostered day off. Qualified
Paramedic Practitioners receive protected CPD time for self-directed learning.
All Paramedics (including Trainee
Paramedic Practitioners) are also supported through the HEE Roadmap in Primary
Care.

Salus Medical Services is a
federation of 18 GP practices operating in the North-East Hampshire and Farnham
geographical area. Our services are
mainly aimed at improving healthcare for the local population. We also deliver services at scale which could
not be achieved by individual practices for example the Paramedic home visiting
service.
We have experience supporting
both Specialist Paramedics and Paramedics with a special interest in primary
care who would like to move into this field and develop as autonomous
clinicians. We pride ourselves in our very

in a number of roles:
A rapid home visiting service;
Clinicians within our member practices; and
Primary Care Network based clinicians providing

Diagnosing and treating patients presenting with minor

Triage and treat patients wishing to see a
health care professional making any necessary referrals to other members of the
primary health care team

Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective
and remains within boundaries of competence and acknowledges limitations. As a TPP,
it is expected that a higher number of interactions will take place with other
Health Care Professionals (including General Practitioners) with a smaller
level of clinical risk undertaken to that of a SPP.

Make professionally autonomous decisions for
which he/she is accountable.

Provide first point of contact within the
service for patients presenting with undiagnosed problems, making use of skills
in history taking, physical examination, problem-solving and clinical
decision-making to establish a diagnosis and management plan
·
Advise patients on general health care and minor
ailments with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health
care team as necessary
·
ECG (Lead II interpretation)
Admission Avoidance Work
·
Accept referrals from other Health Care
Professionals, including other members of the Paramedic Practitioner Team for
the purpose of follow-up visits.
·
Follow up phone calls and visits to patients,
relatives and other Health Care Professionals regarding a patient’s care.
·
Creation of patient specific care plans to
reduce avoidable hospital admissions, especially out of hours.
·
Intercept 999 calls by either telephone triage
call / visit to reduce avoidable hospital admissions.
Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures
·
Undertake the collection of pathological
specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs etc.
·
Perform investigatory procedures requested by
the GPs.
Administration and professional responsibilities
·
Maintain their professional registration in line
with HCPC standards.
·
Maintain a high personal standard of
professionalism.
·
Participate in the administrative and
professional responsibilities of the Paramedic Practitioner team.
·
Ensure accurate and legible notes of all
consultations, treatments and referrals are recorded in the patients’ electronic
notes.
·
Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up
to date with accurate details recorded and amended when required.
·
Ensure expense claims are made accurately,
