Job summary
The Dermatology Patch Testing Nurse is responsible for delivering specialist patch testing services to patients with suspected allergic contact dermatitis. This includes preparing and applying allergen panels, carrying out follow-up readings, providing detailed patient education, and ensuring accurate documentation. The nurse works alongside dermatology consultants and the wider clinical team to deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
- Prepare and apply dermatology patch test panels.
- Perform 48-hour and 7296-hour patch test readings and document results.
- Provide clear patient education before, during, and after testing.
- Maintain allergen supplies and ensure proper storage and stock control.
- Record all procedures and outcomes in the electronic patient record system.
- Communicate findings to dermatology clinicians and assist with patient management.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control and clinic safety policies.
