An opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join our ENT and Dermatology community services to work as part of a friendly team. This post is advertised for 20 - 30 hours per week supporting clinics in South London and Sussex on a flexible working basis, to include weekdays and some Saturdays.
The contract is for 1 year fixed term, with a view to possibly extend.

Main duties of the job
Ideally you will drive however suitable candidates prepared to use London Transport will be considered.

Purpose of the Job
The main
purpose of the job is to provide high quality healthcare to meet the needs of our
patients. This post will be predominately based in clinics within BHR and North East London. Being able to drive is desirable.
The Health Care Assistant will
work under the direction and guidance of the registered GP with Extended Role /
nurse but is expected to work independently in preparing and concluding clinics.
However, this is guided by standard
operating procedures and requires the individual to use a degree of initiative,
and to work to agreed practice standards and protocols.
1.
Main
Responsibilities
- View patients data entry on computer.
- Prepare clinic room prior to the start of
each session
- Provide location reception staff with
accurate clinic patient list when required
- Be in attendance and assist the clinician
during minor procedures
- Competently decontaminate and/or sterilise
equipment in line with protocol
- Assist the GPSI/Nurse to complete
labelling of pathology forms and sample pots prior to dispatch of samples
- Apply simple dressings
- Ensure adequate levels of stock/ medical
supplies in location clinic rooms
- Complete weekly stock sheets at locations
which may involve moving equipment between locations
- Check and restock leaflets in
consultation rooms and where appropriate check waiting room is tidy and
restocked
- Direct patients around building where
necessary particularly during dual appointments
- Re-fill cryotherapy canisters when
necessary
- Transport equipment and stock between
locations when necessary this may involve use of own vehicle/ appropriate
insurance
- Act as a Chaperone where necessary
- Attend Healthcare Assistant programme and
updates as required.
- Assist patients with use of the lift.
- Work with service users and colleagues in
a professional and respectful manner.
- Check rooms are left tidy and meet
clinical governance hygiene and safety regulations, before and after
clinics
- Ensure a high return of patient
satisfaction questionnaires
- Check NHS email regularly
