Hesley Group is looking for a dedicated individual to join the company as a Senior Occupational Therapist within our expanding college provision. You will be a key part of the multi-disciplinary team within the service at Hesley Group you will also be part of our Therapeutic Services team, comprising of Behaviour Therapists, Clinical Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists, all working alongside our education colleagues. Our therapists make a key contribution to our capacity to provide effective person-centred positive behaviour support. Please note this role is based atMeadow View, Tickhill, Doncaster, but will cover other Hesley Group services within a 20 mile radius (mileage expenses paid)

Main duties of the job

All of the specialist subjects that we deliver are vehicles to enable our students to work towards the Preparing for Adulthood outcomes and therefore our ultimate goal is to ensure our students are growing in independence, prepared for the rest of their lives ahead of them and reach their maximum potential.

You will have an Occupational Therapy professional qualification, and a current professional registration with HCPC. Ideally, you will have knowledge of learning disability and/or autism and associated mental health difficulties but this is not essential. Experience of working within an SEND setting would be beneficial. You will actively provide support and professional advice to other members of the team and all other stakeholders.

The role also involves supporting others, such as students, Therapy Assistants and less experienced clinicians through both informal and formal processes of communication and supervision. The Senior Occupational Therapist will have clinical knowledge of and a thorough understanding of the occupational needs of a client group with learning disability, autism and complex needs and will build upon this understanding of needs throughout all individual interactions to bring about best practice in all aspects of engagement. The Senior Occupational Therapist will follow the clinical pathway to assess and provide intervention for the people within the service either individually or in groups, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in a variety of environments. To work collaboratively with all other employees, families, carers and stakeholders to promote the wellbeing and best interests of the people who use our services. The Senior Occupational Therapist will also take an active and productive role in service development initiatives, drawing from a previous broad range of clinical experiences.
