Job summary
At BrisDoc, we've been delivering "patient care, by people who care" for over twenty years, providing high-quality NHS services across GP practices, urgent care and specialist community health services. As a Social Enterprise and Employee-Owned Organisation, we put people and communities at the heart of everything we do.
We are now establishing a more coordinated, community-centred research function to widen access to research, strengthen evidence-informed care and ensure our diverse populations help shape the studies we deliver.
This new Research Lead role has been created through funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), enabling us to build the processes, partnerships and culture needed to embed high-quality research across BrisDoc.
Main duties of the job
The Research Lead will sit as part of BrisDoc's Extended Leadership Team and will provide strategic oversight of research activity across the organisation. Although the role offers a high level of autonomy and professional leadership, it remains accountable to the Director of Nursing, Allied Health Professionals and Governance, who is the formal decision-maker for research governance matters, including approval of studies and acceptance of risks.
The Research Lead's responsibilities focus on advising, coordinating and shaping BrisDoc's approach to research, rather than holding statutory or clinical accountability. They will recommend opportunities, highlight risks and support services to carry out research safely, while decisions relating to governance, finance and clinical matters remain with the appropriate accountable officers. The postholder provides strategic insight and day-to-day coordination whilst working within established governance structures.
About us
BrisDoc is a proud provider of NHS Healthcare. We have been delivering 'patient care, by people who care' for over twenty years.
We run an exciting range of Primary Care Services, including an Urgent Care Service, GP Practices, and the Homeless Health Service. This enables BrisDoc to offer excellent healthcare 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to over one million people across Bristol, North Somerset and South Glos.
We're a Social Enterprise and an Employee-Owned Business. This means the decisions we make are for the good of our patients, workforce, and wider community. This involves prioritising the health of our patients, protecting our environment, and improving the social and economic status of our population. Our 'Community Fund' is a staff lead team who work closely with health-based charitable causes, both local and international, to invest time and money in improving the lives of people in disadvantaged communities.
By joining BrisDoc, you will be part of an innovative organisation that prides ourselves on being a fantastic place to work; somewhere that you will feel valued, supported, developed and part of a family. We strive to make sure every member of the team feels proud of the work they do and the service that we offer.
