Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Bank Housekeeper to work across the our small Eating Disorder Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a talented and dynamic multidisciplinary team.

As an independent hospital all 18 inpatient beds (Adult and Adolescent) are commissioned by NHS England and we work closely with the NHS to provide a responsive, specialised package of individualised treatment determined by need and based on clinical expertise and best practice.

The post holder will:

Ensure the hospital meets and maintains a high standard of cleanliness in compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and is fit for purpose, and a safe and nice environment for patients and staff.

Ensure all precautions are taken to prevent the spread of infection.

Ensure compliance with COSHH.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

The Housekeeper will be familiar with the Hospital Infection Control Policy, ensuring in their work schedule that this policy is adhered to at all times.

Be able to understand and follow the National Standards of Cleanliness but specific attention to the colour coding requirements.

To collaborate and recognise the importance of effective communication with other members of the wider team.

Carrying out laundry duties to a high standard.

Reporting maintenance problems to the Estates Manager

Deep cleaning patient rooms.

Routine & deep cleaning of patient lounges, offices, clinics and communal areas.

At all times be polite, courteous and demonstrate sensitivity and compassion.

Role Purpose:

To ensure the hospital and surrounding environment meets and maintains a high standard of cleanliness, in compliance with all Health and Safety Regulations and is fit for purpose.

To ensure compliance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002).

To be aware of and comply with current Company policies, procedures and current legislation relating to, Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.

Assist in the ordering and maintenance of stock.

To ensure that all equipment used within the department is in good working order and is used appropriately.

Ensure that identified lines of communication are maintained with patients, colleagues and the hospital team.

To at all times be polite, courteous and demonstrate sensitivity and compassion.

To maintain standards of infection control within the boundaries of your responsibility.

To contribute generally to the establishment and development of a quality service.

Role Context:

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

To ensure compliance with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to maintain standards of safety and prevent/control infection.

Action deep cleaning in response to COVID-19.

To keep the hospital clean and tidy in accordance with the rotas or in addition where required or directed. This includes:

o Cleaning communal and ensuite bathrooms and toilets including ensuring that lavatory brushes and holders are thoroughly clean after use

o Cleaning bedrooms, make beds, dust and vacuum all areas

o Maintain clean corridors, using warning cones when washing floors, shampoo carpets where necessary

o Emptying of rubbish bags daily

o Changing beds

o Laundering of linen and towels

o High and low dust (including skirting boards/window ledges/curtain rails/notice boards/picture frames/furniture/doors and door stays)

o Vacuum carpeted areas, daily removal of spots or stains, and shampooing of carpets using machinery on housekeeping supervisor instruction

o Damp dust/polish desks, furniture, fittings in offices, day room, and any other ancillary rooms attached to the area

o Damp clean all telephones

o Damp wipe light switches

o Remove spots and splashes from paintwork on doors and walls

Maintain and store all cleaning equipment in a safe, clean and hygienic condition, and in accordance with correct storage

Faulty electrical equipment must be removed from use and reported to the Estates Manager and to the Ward Manger as soon as practicably possible.

Ensure practice is safe; use housekeeping trolleys at all times

Maintain adequate supplies across the hospital including:

o Top up paper hand towel containers with appropriate consumables

o Check and refill toilet roll containers

o Check and refill hand soap, hand cream and hand gel dispensers across the hospital

DIMENSIONS

Riverdale Grange Hospital provides a service to 9 adolescent patients who may detained under Mental Health Act (1983) and 9 adult patients who are undergoing treatment on a voluntary basis.

The post-holder will be required to work as a Bank Housekeeper within a multidisciplinary team across the hospital.

The post holder will maintain a clean and safe environment which is fit for patients, staff and the public to use
