Job summary

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work as member of a cohesive and skilled multidisciplinary team in the delivery of person focused care and treatment for adults and young people who are engaged in inpatient treatment for an eating disorder.

The post holder will work clinically with patients to plan and implement recovery-based treatment which demonstrates a person-centred approach, positive regard and empathic understanding.

The registered nurse will contribute to the day to day effective running of the ward. They will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the hospital and will require a high degree of professional integrity and self-management and the ability to lead/inspire others.

The post holder will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit, and ensure delivery of clinically safe, high quality care for all patient and drive and sustain a positive culture which embraces change to achieve excellence.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a skilled, resilient and effective clinician who is able to work within a multidisciplinary team to effect the best possible care, treatment and recovery for patients. As a registered nurse, you will lead in the assessment, planning, implementation, co-ordination and evaluation of nursing care and act as key worker with a specific group of patients ensuring that care is clear, focused, well documented/communicated and meets best possible practice.

As a registered nurse you will promote the hospital in a positive manner, clinically supervise practice and ensure the integrity of the pathway and processes in line with the hospitals objectives, policies and procedures.

You will Manage, co-ordinate and lead nursing shifts. Take a key role in the induction, training and mentorship of staff; You will be able to adapt your approach, recognise and work within effective change cycles to affect and embed continuous improvement.

As an independent hospital, our 18 inpatient beds, (Adult and Adolescent), are commissioned by NHS England. As such we work closely with the NHS to provide responsive and highly specialised, treatment determined by need and based on clinical expertise and best practice.

Role Purpose:

To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the provision of best practice care and treatment for Young people and Adults who require inpatient treatment for an eating disorder. As a registered mental health nurse the post holder will use empathic understanding, compassion, strong clinical skills and clear decision-making to lead a cohesive shift team in the promotion of patient independence and recovery and the proactive management of clinical risk.

The post holder will lead the delivery of a consistent person-centred approach to care and treatment with patients which spans the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. This will include the monitoring of physical health, promotion of patients rights, supervising and teaching junior staff and students, working collaboratively within a Multi-Disciplinary Team and maintaining a safe and therapeutic working environment.

Role Context:

The post holder will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team within either the Adolescent or Adult mental health service. They will be responsible for delivering a high standard of nursing care to patients and their families. The post holder will demonstrate empathic understanding, compassion and positive regard in maintaining the ethos of the ward and values of the hospital.
