Job summary

The Faculty Programme Director for Haringey Training Hub designs and delivers educational programmes for primary care workforce across the five NCL boroughs. The role assesses and addresses learning needs of multi-disciplinary teams, promotes effective supervision for different workforce groups, and ensures that education is accessible and respond to local and national NHS workforce priorities.

The Faculty Programme Directors core responsibilities include:

Delivering regular workshops and training at NCL and borough levels

Work with the Haringey Training Hub and NCL Education Faculty and Quality team to develop educational content tailored to workforce priorities and needs.

Co-lead regular meetings with the Haringey Training Hub to support PCN Educator Leads and other workforce leads in identifying and addressing learning needs of primary care teams.

Attend and participate in the Education Faculty fortnightly working group.

At a borough level, the role will work with the Haringey Training Hub team to expand and diversify the number of primary care educators and supervisors. This includes growing membership of Haringey Multi-Professional Educator Group (MPEG) workshops, as well as linking individuals with other educator groups and forums as relevant.

Main duties of the job

Develop educational content and resources that align with the Educational Facultys key programmes and wider NCL Training Hub strategy and KPIs.

Organise, promote, and deliver Multi-Professional Educator Group (MPEG) workshops for their borough based on NCL Training Hub projects. This may require working with other educators and training groups, such as GP Trainer and VTS groups.

Collect, analyse, and report on learning needs from local boroughs by working with PCN Educator Leads and other workforce roles.

Attend and contribute to NCL Education Faculty fortnightly working groups, updating Borough Training Hubs regularly on meeting outputs. If unable to attend, the Faculty Programme Director will assign a suitable deputy to attend.

Maintain a borough distribution list of local educators and supervisors with support of their Borough Training Hub and the NCL Education Faculty and Quality team.

With their Borough Training Hub, organise and facilitate regular meetings with PCN Educator Leads and other relevant roles in Haringey.

Understand and support educator development pathways aligned with the NHS Education Quality process. This includes Faculty Programme Directors supporting the NCL assessment and approval process, serving as panel members for educator and environment workshops each quarter.

Help expand local GP training and placement capacity by supporting Training Hub outreach activities to grow local MPEG groups.

The NCL Training Hub is a growing and innovative team responsible for developing our health and social care workforce in North Central London (NCL). We manage a budget of over £8.2m pa and over 2022-23 were shortlisted for several national awards including in the HSJ and Nursing Times. We work according to a distributed leadership model across the five borough Training Hubs hosted in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey & Islington.

The Training Hub delivers around 70 workforce development initiatives for clinical & non-clinical staff working across Primary & Social Care. Each workstream is housed in one of the five Borough Training Hubs with direct accountability to the Joint Operational Group (JOG). The Training Hub works to embed a culture of education, partnership and collaboration.

Our work programmes reflect the learning and development needs of primary and neighbourhood workforce teams and aligns to system priorities. We enable the placed based delivery of high-quality health and social care to our community across North Central London. We build, support and develop a skilled, diverse and inclusive workforce who are empowered to reach their full potential.

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering and managing healthcare education and training, specifically within primary care settings
  • Knowledge of workforce challenges, NHS workforce priorities, and structures, with a particular focus on primary care and multi-professional teams.
  • Understanding of available training pathways and support mechanisms for primary care educators, as well as the challenges they face.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with different teaching methods and approaches, with the ability to adapt based on learner needs. This includes providing both formal and informal feedback and adjusting content accordingly.
  • Knowledge of effective e-learning formats for sharing information and resources across teams.

  • A registered Medical Practitioner working in primary care in NCL with a current licence to practise

  • Educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate
