We are looking for enthusiastic,
passionate individuals who strive to provide gold standard person centred
care in an Enhanced Access clinics across Herefordshire.
Taurus Healthcare work
across 7 hubs in Herefordshire (Hereford, Bromyard, Ledbury, Leominster,
Kington & , Much Birch and Weobley), the enhanced access
clinics we run support PCNs offering their patients more appointments outside
usual general practice hours (Monday Friday evening, Saturday/Sunday
daytime clinics).
As a Health Care Assistant
within Taurus Healthcare you will become a member of our friendly,
approachable primary care team. Working along side Practice Nurses, Advance
Clinical Practitioners and GPs to provide nursing care such as: phlebotomy,
ECGs, simple wound care and chaperoning duties. Contracted hours and
flexible 0 hour contracts are currently available.

Phlebotomy

Taking and
recording blood pressure
Chaperoning duties
Simple wound dressings
Processing and
management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
Equipment checks
Clearing and
re-stocking consulting rooms
Maintaining stock
levels of Taurus stock items
Preparing and
maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care
interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor
operations
Potential to develop
or use additional skills such as administering B12 injections

Main Responsibilities
Work
within your competency and confidence levels, follow national/local guidance,
seek guidance from PN, ACP or GP when needed and accurately document events of
consultation appointment on the patients clinical notes within a timely
manner.
Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for
Pathology lab investigation
NHS Health checks
ECGs and appropriately escalate for review to
GP for review as per guidance.
Phlebotomy
The measurement of:
Blood
pressure
Pulse
rate and rhythm
Respiratory
rate
Temperature
Height and Weight
Waist
Circumference and Body Mass Index
Diabetic
foot check
Chaperoning duties
Undertake simple wound care as per company
guidelines and be able to (with training):-
Recognise
when wounds are not responding and seek advice appropriately
Provide care for uncomplicated wounds and
apply a range of dressings according to assessed need under the direction of a
registered nurse
Ascertain pain level caused by wounds and seek
advice appropriately
Advise
patients on general health care and promote disease prevention
opportunistically.
Undertake
equipment checks.
Undertake clearing and re-stocking consulting
rooms
Maintaining stock levels of Taurus stock
items and reporting these to Operations Manager or Lead Practice Nurse.
Preparing
and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient
care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor
operations
Identify carers and encourage registration with carers support
agency
Record fridge temperatures, reporting deviances to hub GP
Undertake Quality control tests for d-dimer / BNP equipment
Work
with receptionist to secure safe storage of Taurus equipment at the end of
clinical session.
Disposal
of clinical and domestic waste from rooms used by Taurus
Work
with receptionist to ensure safe and secure closure of building at end of
working day
Be
able to recognise need for urgent /emergency care taking immediate necessary
action, calling for help and alerting clinicians for example in the event of
anaphylaxis or cardiac arrest.
Know
and adhere to guidelines for the management of samples
Have
the insight and confidence to recognise and always work within the boundaries
of safe practice based on your own competence and the limitations of the HCA
role
To
carry any other appropriate duties as required.
