Weobley Surgeries & Staunton on Wye Surgeries.
This is part time position for 18 Hours per week working the following pattern :-
The Weobley and Staunton on Wye Practice is a rural dispensing GP
Surgery, split across two locations with approximately 6,500 patients. We are
looking for a qualified Dispenser / Trainee Dispenser who will project a
positive and friendly image to patients and who is professional, efficient
and enthusiastic with a flexible approach to fill this permanent position. On
the job training will be provided if required.
It is important to note that the successful candidate will also be
required to undertake sickness and holiday cover in addition to their
contracted hours as part of the Dispensary rota.

Main duties of the job
Take repeat prescription requests via phone, online, or over the counter.
Issue paper and electronic prescriptions within timescales for dispensing and non-dispensing patients.
Prepare Dosset box requests for GP review and assemble as needed.
Check prescriptions for signatures-endorsements; sort into paid and unpaid.
Submit unsigned prescriptions to Partners; ensure nurses stock prescriptions are completed; handle post-dated prescriptions.
Verify all dispensed items match prescriptions; consult doctors when needed.
Collect prescription charges; ensure FP10 declarations are signed.
Safely store practice monies and record all financial transactions.
Perform checks: CDs, PA items, expiry dates, PPA returns, fridge temps, and owings.
Check stock against invoices; log in EMIS; report and reorder errors.
Forward invoices and correspondence to management per policy.
Act on drug alerts promptly; inform staff and patients where required.
Maintain stock control to ensure supply continuity and minimise waste.
Manage safe procurement, storage, dispensing, and destruction of controlled drugs.
Check and order injectables as needed.
Dispose of returned and out-of-date stock and CDs with the appropriate authority.
Keep full records of all dispensing activities, using IT systems as appropriate.
Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the Assistant Practice Manager.

To process all relevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses, where appropriate, in accordance with the principles of good practice, dispensing and sale of prescriptions and medicines/appliances and assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking of the dispensary
Job Responsibilities:
- To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.
- To collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
- To ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the Practice are appropriately stored and a record kept of all financial transactions.
- Ordering appropriate quantities of goods via the wholesalers computer link
- Check incoming stock against the invoice. Enter stock onto EMIS LV for stock control. Identify any errors in incoming stock and report to wholesaler and re-order item if necessary.
- To promptly forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the Practice Manager or Dispensary Manager according to Practice policy.
- To operate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the Practice with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage through out of date stock.
- To ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.
- To ensure that shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene within the dispensary and that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and kept in good working order.
- To take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.
- To ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and to maintain a temperature control record/logbook.
- To maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of computers when available and appropriate.
