Our GP federation has been running a remote telephone (+/-) video support for its practices for 18 months - Herefordshire Remote Health. This supports practices with additional capacity for same-day appointments.
We are looking to expand our team of remote clinicians with experienced Physician Associates, with at least 2 years experience post qualification in general practice including EMIS.

The role: Telephone consultations to assess and manage patients in general practice, implementing agreed management plans, personalised care planning and following approved protocols as appropriate. Demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, including assessment and diagnostic skills, leading to the delivery of safe care for all patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively with other members of the Primary Care Team within the policies and procedures of Herefordshire General Practice, and will have the following duties and responsibilities under the broad headings below:
- Participate in all treatment and preventative healthcare services within the Herefordshire Remote Health Service as delegated and agreed by the supervising physician(s).
- Recognise the need for adapting the style of consultation required in a remote role.
- Provide direct remote clinical care to patients using established local and national clinical guidelines.
- Have an open and curious consultation style, taking robust medical histories, analysing, diagnosing and enabling patients to participate in shared decision making, during consultations via telephone.
- Recommend and explain appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment.
- Request and interpret results of laboratory investigations when necessary. Review and communicate results where appropriate.

- If UK Trained:
- Degree at 2:2 level or above
- PG Dip in Physician Associate Studies from a UK PA programme
- Current and valid certification or re-certification by the UK Physician Associate National Examination
- Member of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes registration on the UK Physician Associate Register (the PA Managed Voluntary Register)
- If US Trained:
- Current and valid certification with the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Member of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes registration on the UK Physician Associate Register (the PA Managed Voluntary Register)
Desirable
- MSc Degree in Physician Associate Studies, Physician Assistant Studies or Medical Sciences
